Many years ago, I remember feeling honored that our family was invited to visit her home. It was a home with walls filled with pictures of her loved ones — and that day her house was overflowing with family members and friends. We all waited as she sat in her chair and told us she had something to share. We quietly listened as this wise Cree grandma spoke.
She said, “My family had been out hunting and, as they butchered the animal, it made such a mess of the white snow. Through the night it had snowed again and, when I looked out my window in the morning, the blood was covered by white snow. It’s like the mess never happened. All of a sudden, I realized what the missionary had been telling me . . . by Jesus dying on the cross, that’s what He did for my sins. He erased the sin in my heart and made it white and clean.”
It’s a significant moment when we realize the impact of the cross — that we no longer carry the messes of our defeat. The Lord takes the black of our sins and failures, and turns them white, just like new again! What a life-changing, heart-cleansing process that only our Savior could do!
Have you taken time to thank Jesus for all He’s done in your life? Are there stumbling blocks that you are hanging onto that you need to release to Him in prayer? Jesus carries our burdens so that we don’t have to. Let’s give them to Him, so we can walk freely in the glory of His ever present love and care.
Jesus, thank you for washing my sins away. Thank you that I can walk whole, renewed, and forgiven. Help me to live my life in victory with You. Help me to tell others that they, too, can be washed whiter than snow.
