“Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit,
perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.” 2 Corinthians 7:1 (NIV)
It was time for spring cleaning in our home again, and I had finally reached the last room, the living room. After a few hours of pulling
furniture out and starting to clean every nook and cranny, somehow the room looked worse and was a total mess. Everything was in disarray.
Deep in thought, as I continued to clean, I thought about how this is what my life was — a total mess, until I invited Jesus into my life
and allowed Him to clean all the dark corners, to throw stuff out, and slowly do a work in my life.
Later that evening, as everything was neatly back in place, I was thankful that all the nooks and crannies were as clean as possible. If
I had only cleaned the middle of the room, I would still feel that the room was not clean.
It is best to totally surrender and allow God to do His “total” cleaning in our hearts and minds. I am still learning and am being “cleaned”
daily, and I am thankful for that. Sometimes we may start off as a mess, but God still loves us and knows what is best for us. He has a
plan for our lives, and we can experience it if we will humble ourselves before Him and admit we need His help.
Father in Heaven, thank You for choosing me to be a part of Your family and for cleansing, teaching, and guiding in all areas of my life.
May many more seek You and find You. I pray this in Your precious name. Amen.
