inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV)
My parents, who are my heroes, have left their temporary home to live in their forever home that their hearts longed for . . . Heaven.
They left behind a legacy of loving and serving others. My parents showed me how to love and give to others with a willing heart. They
had a quiet faith when serving the Lord. They voluntarily served others by helping out with community and church events with love and
humility. They did things for others and expected nothing in return.
They were always in the background, never expecting recognition for their work. When missionaries would come to our community, my
mom and dad would always open their home to them and lend a helping hand with anything they needed. Their lives were a true testimony and witness for God, and their memory will continue to inspire and influence myself and others.
I know that not everyone has the same example left by their parents as I do. But all of us will leave behind our own legacy. My desire is
to follow my mom and dad’s example, leaving behind a legacy of faith. I would like to serve others just like my parents did, and I would like to pass this on to my family and the following generations.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible legacy left behind by my earthly parents. Thank You for their prayers and guidance
throughout the years. Thank You that they taught us how to live for Jesus by example. Help me, and all reading this, to leave behind the
kind of legacy my parents did—one of faith, love and service. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
