Years ago, during my backslidden state, I hung around with people who drank. One of those times I went to a party with some friends
and my sister. Shortly after we arrived at the party shack, I felt uneasy and told my friend that I wanted to go home and not stay at the party. When I got up to leave, my friends left with me. It did not make sense to me at the time why I felt that I could not stay.
When I got home, I went to bed, planning to sleep right away. However, my dad came up to ask if we were at that certain place, and I told him that we had been there. I asked him why he was asking that, and he indicated that there were police all over that place. We were curious, but my father told us to stay put and not to go back there. The next morning, we found out what had happened. There were shootings and five people were killed. A very angry young man had come with a gun.
I have thought a lot of times about that night at that place . . . about how we were sitting by the doorway along the wall. We did not know how close we were to getting hurt, even killed.
The verse (at the top) comes to mind of how God looked after us even when we were in a backslidden state. It is so comforting and so
reassuring that God loves us, and His love is for everyone.
