I’ve been working on a little cabin these last few months. It’s a real “journey” for me, mainly because I’ve never built one by myself before. There’s a bunch of different aspects to creating one of these “bunkies.” The floor, the walls, the roof, the insulation, the wiring, the
door, the windows, etc. Piece by piece, they’re all coming into place. One of these days, it’ll be done, but I can’t just wait for that time to
come — I have to keep working on it!
Working in gospel ministry is kind of similar to that “cabin-building” concept. Not everyone’s calling is the same and it definitely isn’t a
“one-and-done” thing — we need to keep working on it. In NEFC (Native Evangelical Fellowship of Canada), we have a whole bunch of people serving Jesus in different capacities, in different geographical areas and with varying foci. They’re working in discipleship,
pastoring, foster parenting, radio programming, journalism, music, camp-work, counseling, management, medical work, and any
other Kingdom-building assignments that they’re called to. They do it with the singular “cabin-building” objective of advancing the gospel of Jesus. There’s no higher calling than that!
The job descriptions will probably change and the team members will definitely change. The geographic locations will vary and the
results will fluctuate . . . but the calling to serve our Lord remains a constant to every believer.
He has a work and a calling for each and every one of His children. Have you found your place yet?
