Stories of Hope

In 2021, Intertribal Life Ministries and the Native Evangelical Fellowship of Canada came together with a vision: to create space for Indigenous followers of Jesus to share their stories. Understanding firsthand the healing that comes when you are able to tell your story, the teams at ILM and NEFC recognized that many Indigenous believers longed for this same opportunity: to share what life was like before Christ, how they came to follow Him, and how their journey has unfolded since that decision. Through prayer and collaboration, Council Fire was born as a space where these voices could be heard, where transformation could be celebrated, and where the stories of the power of Jesus could bring healing and encouragement to Indigenous communities across North America.

Council Fire Devotional Books

The Council Fire devotional books offer 366 days of Scripture-based reflections: one devotional for every day of the year, including leap years. Every devotional includes a Bible passage, a personal reflection from one of our Indigenous writers, and practical insight for daily living. The books also feature a one-year Bible reading schedule, helping readers engage with the full scope of God’s Word throughout the year. Whether you’re looking to deepen your faith, connect with Indigenous Christian voices, or establish a consistent devotional practice, the Council Fire books provide a meaningful guide for your spiritual journey.

The heart of Council Fire is its writers. Learn from 60 Indigenous followers of Jesus from diverse backgrounds, communities, and walks of life. They include pastors, teachers, elders, counsellors, artists, and everyday believers who have faithfully walked with Christ through joy and hardship. Built Through Partnership:
Intertribal Life Ministries & NEFC

Council Fire exists because of the collaborative vision of two Indigenous Christian organizations committed to reaching Native North Americans with the gospel.

Intertribal Life Ministries is dedicated to developing and publishing Christian literature written by and for Native North Americans. Their mission is to speak to Indigenous hearts through culturally relevant content that honors both faith and heritage. From devotional books to the Intertribal Life newspaper, they create resources filled with positive Indigenous news and gospel truth.

The Native Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (NEFC) focuses on planting and sustaining churches for First Nations people across Canada. Through pastoral support, radio outreach, and community ministry, NEFC works to build strong, thriving Indigenous congregations where the Word of God is taught and lived out in culturally meaningful ways.

Together, these organizations have created Council Fire as a resource to encourage, inspire, and equip Indigenous believers and anyone seeking to understand how the gospel speaks across every culture.
